Income tax to increase in Labour's general election manifesto

If Labour with the next general election income tax rates would be increased to

  • 45p for people earning over £80,000
  • 50p for people earning over £123,000

Almost one million more workers (the top 5% of earners) will be pulled into the top rate of tax if Labour wins the upcoming General Election, according to the party’s manifesto.

Other measures are included for more free childcare, nationalisation of the railways and water companies and excessive pay levy on salaries above  £330,000.  Further measures are in place to preserve the bee population and have the provision of free wifi on public transport.
